The name Rainbow Koyemsi came to me through a synchronicity a year before I would find out what it truly meant. In the higher dimensional planes accessed through spiritual practice and plant medicine there are nonphysical beings of light and color described by Terence McKenna as Machine Elves. They are the jesters of hyperspace, they’re playful, they present puzzles, they are in some sense a part of all of us. A Koyemsi is a Native American spirit that fills the same roles and are not considered fully human or fully spirit. Through a life changing visionary experience in which I encountered these beings and realized our dual nature, I took on the name Rainbow Koyemsi, which is another way of saying machine elf, in order to express that part of myself in my art.
The hieroglyph-like symbols that appear in my work all point toward influences from higher planes. The majority of my art flows out automatically in meditative trance states that I put myself in and through my art I want to show others that there is much more to reality than they ever imagined.
